Infrastructure And Services

Ramesys provides ICT infrastructure and services at many different levels, from single solutions to large enterprise (LEA/RBC) implementations. We do not have a ‘one-size fits all’ model. Our solutions are developed from a detailed understanding of what the customer needs. Increasingly this may result in a school opting to outsource the entire implementation but Ramesys are equally comfortable to work with a customers existing technicians to undertake a joint implementation.

All installations must benefit from an ICT infrastructure that enables choice but also gives structure and cost efficiencies. This works using a service framework approach. In multi-site implementations a central infrastructure would be the hosting centre for many of the core functions such as firewall, switches, router, backup, virus protection, remote updates, content hosting and remote access. Providing these services centrally is where the overall savings are made in terms of standardisation. In this model there is also flexibility because schools are able to opt how they use and manage these services e.g. a large secondary school may have access centrally to make local adjustment to internet/e-mail filtering, and local software loading maybe undertaken by a site technician. Alternatively, in some schools, the management of PCs to the desktop and software loading maybe included as an optional central task. The installation procedure for any of the defined solutions must also be very structured. This starts with engagement at school level regarding which model in the framework they wish to use, moves through issues of legacy equipment integration and testing up until sign-off and transition from the installation teams into the operational phase.
